All right. Everyone pretty much knows that I really didn't like Kill Bill Vol. 1 very much. I wanted to...but it was just too bloody for me.
Well, the good news is that Kill Bill Vol. 2 is a lot better than the first one. As in Vol. 1, my favourite scenes have to do with The Bride and a master. In Vol. 1, it was Sonny Chiba as Hattori Honzo; in Vol. 2 it is the wonderful Gordon Liu as Pai Mei. This section happily evokes movies like Return to the 36th Chamber, and I love Gordon Liu when he's in a comedic role. There's also a conversation with a female assasin over a pregnancy test that is hysterical...
But again, overall...eh. David Carradine talks too slowly, the burial scene was painful to watch...and don't get me started on the eye. Ew.
That being said, I went into the second half of the Kill Bill saga with extreme misgivings and trepidation. I was pretty convinced I was going to hate it. And I didn't. I was wrong. There were bits I actually enjoyed, and bits I wouldn't mind seeing again.
I think that says a lot about this movie...it changed my mind.
