Finally saw The Cat in the Hat after work today. It's not as bad as all those reviews lead you to believe.
It's worse. It's so much more worse...oh, the humanity. The humanity. But now I have my #1 for my "Top Ten Worst Films of 2003" list...
But the dog has on the exact same collar (in lime green) that I have wrapped under the tree for Patrick tomorrow. and I could have sworn I saw one of naughtykitty's dishsoaps on the kitchen sink...it looked like the same bottle...
And, okay, I did kind of chuckle at Mrs. Kwan yelling at the TV while watching Tawianese Parliment on C-Span. "You tell him, Lee Hong!" Heh.
Thanks for further confirming my suspicions. I WILL NOT see this piece of sh**.
Interesting tidbit: The Cat in the Hat was filmed here in Ventura County - specifically, Moorpark. During the filming, the "town" set featured in the film was visible off the CA-118 (Simi Valley/Ronald Reagan Freeway) and the Metrolink Ventura County Line.
At first I was planning to see the movie, since it was filmed locally and I thought it would be innocent, family-friendly fare. After all, it's based on a popular Dr. Seuss book. Now I'm appalled to hear about what they've done. As a near-lifelong Ventura County resident proud of his local heritage, I refuse to donate my $8 to the makers of this crap.
