Not Easy Being a Sox Fan

Sweet history in South Boston

Since I can't seem to say anything right today, here's 2000 words I can't screw up:

This was my view of Boston walking to work last Wednesday. The little black building at the lower left with the yellow stripe near the top is the main 24 hour post office where I have my PO Box.

This is the original Necco factory site (they later moved to Cambridge, and now are in Revere). They opened it in 1903; at the time, this was the largest establishment devoted exclusively to the production of confectionery in the United States. Now, it's (literally) a shadow of its former self, but you can see the writing on the wall. I'm not sure what it's used for, now, but the little side streets that comes up to the rear of the building are called Necco Street, Necco Court, and Necco Place.

That's all I got. Thank you and good night.
