How cool is it that Henry Lee, the Sheriff of Jefferson Parish, which is a few minutes west of New Orleans, is a first-generation Chinese-American?
That would be cool anywhere...but in the South? I saw him on TV last night and was hugely impressed. Then I read his official biography on the Jefferson Parish website and I'm even more impressed.
He had to cancel his 72nd birthday party the Saturday before Katrina hit to help with evacuation and preparation.
He's my hero today.
