Must Love Dogs

I'm going to start out with an apology. I loved this movie and I'm buying the DVD when it comes out. Sorry.

I am amused that one of the major complaints that critics have had about Must Love Dogs is that they can't believe Diane Lane can't get a date. Diane Lane? Was born the same year as I was, 1965. She's about five months older than I am (which I think is why I adore her). So yeah. I believe it. Oh, boy, do I ever believe it. This may be one of the most believable films I've seen all year.

It's about starting over, learning to trust, taking a chance, and the ups and downs of internet dating. Been there, done that. And it is as ridiculous and frustrating and hopeful and depressing as this film makes it out to be. Not to mention it's wittily written, it's got John Cusak and Stockard Channing, it's honest and it's...messy. Yeah. It's not perfect, but neither is life.

What's sad is, I can't remember if I've read the book or not yet; it did seem vaguely familiar, but then a lot of the Chick Lit books do, and I've read a lot of them. I may need to check it out at the bookstore...just to make sure.
