It started out so optimistically, our last National League game.

Manny being Manny during the pregame workouts and all...

Cheerleaders...in baseball?

As I texted deathbytamarind, dancing ability wasn't a requirement for the job.
Being able to wiggle bellies and bums and swing hair, though, definitely was.

Bad, bad sign.

I was amused by Billy the Marlin, though.

And as soon as the game actually started, well...yeah. Here's Manny, obviously bored,
in the outfield just before the run-scoring hit he didn't catch. Sigh...

The key to our hotel room. I love that it was baseball-themed.

My "Cuckoo for Coco" T-shirt. And my hip pink Florida sunglasses.

Cheerleaders? There are no cheerleaders in baseball!!

I do like their mascot too, though.

Was this the game Dontrelle pitched?

Yep...this would be it. For some reason I kind of stopped taking pictures after the first inning...

I am amused that Billy is named after Billy Martin...but then, I am a native Northern Californian.

Speaking of Billy Martin, that reminds me...did you see the list of stuff I wrote down as seeing at the Baseball As America exhibit in Oakland some months back? They had one of his jerseys from way back when.

Uhm, cheerleaders?
Hello. This is baseball. Not football, where the "cheerleaders" wear bikinis in december.
This better not become a trend. Baseball's the only sport I can really stand. Mostly because they don't have those whoresque barbies shaking their asses on the sidelines.

Might I add, I think it's bad enough that we have Hazel Does.

I think the whole concept of baseball cheerleaders was imported from Japan. Although there, they really do lead the crowd in cheers - or so I've read...

Perhaps on your trip you'll be able to confirm this.

I've noticed that only minor league teams and really shitty ML teams have cheerleaders. I guess when your team is a complete failure, bring in the boing boing.
