Hey, Bob Villa...bet you can't fix THIS house! [Jun. 13th, 2005|12:27 am]

Despite the heat, I took a long walk through Cambridge this afternoon.

It's still got a mailbox on its locked gate.

The inside is completely grown over, but you can still see the skeleton of pipes.
I wish it wasn't posted and locked; it would have been interesting to see what was inside it hidden in the weeds.

I don't know what this was; my first thought was fireplace, but it doesn't really look like one.

This is the wall facing the next house...which is in perfect condition and lived-in.

In fact, it's a perfectly lovely street in Cambridge. It just has this one fossilised ruin.

I was heading west; this was the next corner if you want to see it first hand.

That's so neat..It reminds me of this movie but I can't remember the name! It was based off a good..Great Expectations I think? A newish remake?

You're the Movie Goddess, do you know? Has two kids that drink from the same fountain in this house and then year pass and they're grown up - the house is half in ruins and covered in plants - it was absolutely beautiful..I wanted to live there. :x

I think you must mean The Secret Garden...I never saw the film, but I did read the book when I was in High School for a Children's Lit class...it sounds like that book.

No, it wasn't the Secret Garden. There wasn't a garden, just a house that over the years got taken over by plants.

Hehe. We can blame it on it not being a current movie. :3 I think it was like 1995. (I guess that's not exactly new-ish anymore.)
