Yeeesh.
That's about all I could say when the credits rolled on Sin City. Now, I don't read comic bo...er, pardon me, I mean graphic novels, so before I saw the trailer, I had no idea what Sin City was.

I do now. Yeesh.

It's easily both the most amazing movie visually I think I have ever seen and the most messed up thing since Kill Bill. It's not for the faint of heart. There's scantily clad hookers. There's innocent little girls. There's ninja girls with swords of death. There's castration. There's amputation. There's decapitation. There's wolves devouring...well...there's wolves devouring stuff, okay? But it's pretty. All of it. Stunning. Beautiful.

It's film noir at it's noirest. It's stark black and white, with very little grey but occasional flashes of colour.

However...I do find it absolutely hilarious that Alexis Bledel plays a goody-two-shoes hooker who can't hack it and is constantly on the phone with her mom. Better watch it, Alexis, honey, or you're going to start getting typecast...

Um...I'm not sure.

Visually, I loved it. But I'm not sure I can embrace the subject matter.

We saw it this weekend too. Our theory is that you have to completely buy into it. If you do, and don't mind violence, you'll see the beauty of it. If you don't, you'll spend most of the movie laughing at Benecio and Brittney Murphy's performances (the row of teens behind us).

Hell, I had nightmares about it over the weekend. That hasn't happend to me in at least 10 years.
