So, let's say that I adored the first one - should I see the second one or is it going to break my heart? Better - to complete the set, or to stay naive?

Interesting question. I saw it Saturday...and the first one was one of top 10 best films in its year. But I still am trying to figure that out.

Hm. I'd have to say if you liked the first one, you'll like this one...but unlike Shrek 2 or Spiderman 2, this sequel isn't as satisfying as it might have been. And to be honest, I think it's got a lot to do with being filmed on estates and ersatz-European towns rather than on the streets of a real live city. It's just sort of...soulless.

Nonono...it was one of my Top Ten Films of 2001! I have no idea how it fared against all films that year; I just liked it a lot.

Do you really always sit in the front row?

(See below answer)
I don't find it as hard on my neck as I do on my legs if I don't sit in the front. I have long legs and the seats are too close together and my legs get all crampy...

The way theatres are designed these days, the front row is set back, and I don't find it at all uncomfortable. But I do end up kind of sore if I have to sit all squashed with my knees up against the seat ahead of me, or with my feet asleep because I've had them draped over that seat (or the one next to me if the armrest goes up).

I can't do front row in most of the Boston theaters i've been to.. Boston Common has enough room to be comfortable.. Fenway is about 6 inches from the screen up front.. I watched Star Wars Ep 1 there and only really got to see 60% of the movie heh

It varies...some theatres here have shorter front rows, and I grab the second row behind the empty spot...

It's not only the theatres, it's the individual screens! At Boston Common, some theatres you can sit in the front (like #1 & #2) and some you can't...

I just head about half way up.. middle of the row.. You need to find a Muvico.. no theater will feel the same after that ;)

Yes, whenever possible and whenever the theatre allows for it (though "front row" can also be the front row of the balcony).

Why? I hate heads in front of me. I have long legs and the seats are too close together and my legs get all crampy. And, as my friend Jean in Montreal said, if you're going to spend the money and make the effort to go to a theatre and see a movie, you need to get the full value. A movie is supposed to be a larger-than-life experience. It should enfold you. You don't get that if you sit waaaaay back so the screen is almost a glorified TV screen. (He said that in 1986, and it totally stuck with me...)

The way theatres are designed these days, the front row is set back, and it's not at all uncomfortable.

Loved the remarks about Genovia. :)

Also appearing in the film is alicenwndrln, who plays handmaid to Julie Andrews' character. If you remember a young lady in some scenes following behind Ms. Andrews, holding an umbrella, that's her. :)

It really got annoying, too. After a while you start playing "find the tokens."

And that. Is. So. Cool! I checked out a little of her journal; it's really fascinating to read her side of the movie. Thanks!

Well that sucks ... A of course wants to see it and movies cost too much these days for me to chaperone the outing then spend my time reading on my Palm. Heh.

Haven't read the review (yet) but I caught it last week.. and outside of the theater having a print they should be ashamed to show.. I thought it was a sweet little movie that might not win any awards.. but it was far from bad.. Fun little date movie, not to mention Anne Hathaway is one of the most beautiful women i've ever seen..

But to the reason for replying.. your Domokun pictures are awesome.. and I may have to take Domo and Cthuhlu along on my next road trip hehe

I haven't seen the first.. Its a manly attempt to avoid "chick flicks" but I watched Ella Enchanted and thought it was harmless and.. well.. enchanting.. so I was willing to go see this one.. I might have to watch the first one just to see if I think its any better..

Adding you back.. I'm going to warn you now.. I'm offensive by nature.. don't ever take anything I post too seriously..
